Platwood Tree

A massive magical tree with a dark orange bark complete with shimmering metallic highlights. Platwood trees were rarely found across Legere, producing an excellent quality hardwood that looked unlike any other wood around. They were exceptionally hardy, being able to grow in all manner of environments as well as resist the effects of plant-based diseases and parasites. There were some cases where platwood trees remained standing even after a forest fire razed the rest of the vegetation in a forest.

Biological Traits #

Platwood trees produced silvery leaves through the entire year. They flowered once every 5 years, producing a beautiful display of blue blossoms that stood out dramatically.

Platwood trees' roots extended far beneath the surface, leaching metals from the earth to give its wood the metallic sheen featured in associated products. A combination of magic and this infused metal made living platwood difficult to chop down.

The trunks of these trees could grow to astronomical proportions. This allowed a single tree to provide a magnitude of profits for a lumber company.

Platwood Uses #

It's just as well, since platwood furniture was expensive thanks to its beautiful appearance. Once properly lacquered, platwood surfaces shimmered splendidly, their amber tones mixing together with the steely grey highlights within. Some people used platwood in the handles of weapons and other tools.

The hardiness of platwood in equipment and furniture was still strong, but decreased compared to living wood.
